That cloud on the horizon…

Just a quick update as I’m about to hop on a train. My apologies for not updating much over the last couple of days – it has been rather chaotic here. As has been reported on quite significantly in the media, all of Europe’s airports and flights have come to a grinding halt because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland. I was due to fly to Amsterdam on Sunday however this flight was cancelled. So, I have been stuck here in Rome for the last couple of days and have fortunately been able to book train tickets to Zurich for this morning…so glad that I did are now all trains heading north are booked out until Friday! God was certainly very present in the situation – when I went to the train station there were massive queues (several hours in length). I saw a self-service terminal and somehow managed to get myself train tickets without too much difficulty! I still need to book tickets to get to Amsterdam for tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be able to do so quite easily this afternoon. Otherwise I will be staying put in Zurich and will have to miss out on my photo safari.

Here are a couple of photos from the last couple of days, starting with Pisa

Next up is beautiful Florence and the Pont de Vecchio…

And a view of Florence…

I have also spent quite a few days in Rome and have seen all the major sights – Vatican City (including the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica), the Pantheon, the Forum, the Colesseum and the Trevi Fountain.

Time to head to the station. I’ll update again soon.
