I thought it was high time that I dusted off this blog and what better place to start than with a celebration! Growing up, I attended a church with a relatively small community where everyone knew everyone else. It has been around 14 years since I last saw some of the Spencer family, however I had stayed in touch with Amy via social media. Amy is the creative genius behind Giggleberry Creations and happens to be an amazing party planner! I had often admired celebrations that Amy had organised and was thrilled when she invited me to photograph a surprise 60th birthday for her Mum. The theme of the celebration was ‘Winter’ and would feature hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows over an open fire and warm blankets. As well as photographing the actual surprise, I was able to document the behind-the-scenes setup of the party as well as some family portraits. Here is a little snapshot of some of the images I captured on the day.
The bunting was lovingly handcrafted by Amy. If you are after some bunting of your own, check out Giggleberry Creations!
The surprise part of the celebration was wonderful. A lot of organisation had gone in to this moment to ensure that it was a complete surprise. It was such a privilege to have been there to capture it!
After the surprise, I spent some time with each family photographing some portraits.
I’m not sure I’ve ever met a family containing so many creative individuals! As well as Amy’s Giggleberry Creations, Erin created the spectacular birthday cake. It looked fantastic and this was only the second cake she had made! Very impressive!
A big thank you to Amy and the rest of the Spencer clan for inviting me to photograph the surprise celebration. I had a blast capturing all of the events of the day and it was wonderful to catch up with you all after such a long time.
For those of you who are relatively new to reading this blog, you may not know that as well as travel photography, I love to photograph people! I enjoy photographing both individuals and families in beautiful outdoor locations, capturing moments that will be treasured for a lifetime. It is still a little while away, but Mother’s Day is in exactly 10 weeks today and what better gift than to give your Mum some beautiful new photographs of your family that she will cherish!
I am available for portrait sessions either in the comfort of your own home or at another location – I know lots of fabulous parks that make for perfect portrait settings! If you are interested in booking a portrait session or would like to learn more, please contact me!
I’m ashamed to admit how long it has taken me to edit and blog this shoot, however, let me just say that I had a wonderful opportunity last year to photograph a beautiful styled shoot entitled “Colour of Joy”. I was invited by the lovely Jessica Ruisan of Silk Truffle Photography to come along to the shoot and I loved every minute. The details were stunning and the afternoon light in Centennial Park a perfect compliment to the “Colour of Joy” theme. The shoot wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of the following people…
Big thanks to Jess for inviting me to the shoot and for the wonderful team who helped to make it all possible. Enjoy a few of my favourite photographs from the shoot.
A little while ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a styled shoot for My Little Table Designs. My friend Amanda is the creative genius behind My Little Table Designs, and I was hugely impressed with all of the little details she had thought of to include within the shoot. Not that I should have been surprised after photographing her daughter’s amazing 3rd birthday party!
The focus of My Little Table Designs is in bringing children’s play to life. They offer ready-made activity kits, games, toys and gifts, as well as beautiful handmade tablecloths (which were the focus of our photo shoot), papercraft and party accessories. Make sure you check out their website or visit them on Facebook.
Here are a few of my favourite images from the photo shoot.
Not only did Amanda make the gorgeous tablecloths and prepare all of the props, but she also cooked some delicious goodies for the shoot, including the cake and cupcakes!
We had three lovely little assistants for the shoot, all of whom enjoyed eating Amanda’s yummy treats!
A little while ago, I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing baby James. It was an honour to have been able to photograph James, particularly at only 3 weeks old. Thank you Kristen and Alan for asking me to photograph your little family! Enjoy some of my favourites from the session.
Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing some portraits of the gorgeous Lily. Being family friends, I’ve known Lily’s Mum forever and it has been a joy to watch her get married and start a family. When Rosie contacted me about doing some portraits of Lily I was very excited to have the opportunity to document their little family. Lily was very cooperative for our photo shoot and thankfully the weather was on our side and we were able to have a fun afternoon capturing some portraits in a local park. Here are a few of my favourite shots from the session…
Rosie, thanks so much for asking me to photograph Lily. I had a great afternoon and it was such a privilege to capture some images of your beautiful daughter!
On a more technical note, most of these images were taken with my newly acquired Canon 50mm 1.2L lens. It was my first big shoot with the lens and it certainly did not disappoint! Following this shoot, my 50mm has become my ‘go to’ lens and is on my camera most of the time.
If you are interesting in having some portraits of yourself or your family taken, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Not long after I photographed the Lewis Family, I was invited to document Bella’s 3rd birthday party. Having known Amanda (Bella’s Mum) for a while, I knew that the party would be amazing. And amazing it was! I don’t think that I’ve been to a party that was that well planned before – every last detail was thought of, which resulted in an awesome day! The theme of the party was ‘Princess’ and so many of the details reflected this. In addition to all of the fantastic details, there were lots of fun party games including pass-the-parcel and a treasure hunt. As well as the games, the kids were able to play dress-ups, do some art and craft, have their face painted and the bubble blowing station received lots of visitors. On top of all this fun, a surprise guest in the form of a fairy princess stopped by to entertain the kids!
Amanda, thank you so much for asking me to photograph your big day! I had so much fun and the amount of effort that you put into the day was mind-blowing. It certainly tops my list of favourite 3rd birthday parties 🙂
Here are some of the images from the day. I loved photographing the kids and also the amazing details that were featured!
If you have a special event coming up that you’d like documented, please drop me a line!
I recently had the privilege of spending an afternoon photographing 4/5 of the beautiful Lewis family. I have worked with Amanda for a couple of years now and it was an absolute pleasure to have been able to spend some time photographing her, her two completely adorable kids and mother. Our location was Wahroonga Park and despite it being an overcast day, the sun did peek out while we were there to brighten things up a bit.
We started off in the Rose garden with Nonna, Bella and Jack….
Such beautiful smiles!
What a cutie!!
I had such a fun time capturing these images! Bella and Jack were so cooperative and Bella’s little smile completely melted my heart. Thank you Amanda for asking me to document your gorgeous little family!
Not long after this portrait session, I was invited to photograph Bella’s 3rd birthday party. I’ll be blogging about this next week, but talk about amazing! I was blown away by the creativity and detail that went into creating the party and loved being able to photograph it! Watch this space!
If you are interested in having a family portrait photography session, please let me know!
Several years ago, back when I worked as a teacher, I had the pleasure of teaching a lovely young lady by the name of Brittany. Fast-forward a couple of years, Brittany is engaged to Anthony and they are planning their February 2012 wedding! Having known Brittany and her family for a number of years, I am very excited to be able to capture their special day.
Back in November, on a beautifully sunny Saturday afternoon, we met at Lizard Log (an area within the Western Sydney Parklands) to spend some time photographing Brittany and Anthony’s engagement portraits.
Brittany and Anthony, thank you so much for asking me to photograph your big day! I’m really looking forward to it as I know that it will be a wonderful reflection of your love of Jesus and also each other.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph baby Sebastian. Talk about a cutie! He was very cooperative and gave me lots of beautiful smiles!
Here are a few images from the shoot that I wanted to share…
After a while, we decided to head outside to do some family portraits and have a bit of fun.
Sebastian was born on Father’s Day. I’m fairly certain that he will be a difficult Father’s Day present to improve on!
Skye and Gareth, thanks so much for asking me to take these photographs of your precious family! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to watching you guys grow as a family.
